Since Amaury Vergara took over the club in 2019, Chivas hasn’t won a single thing. On the contrary, they have stepped away from the spotlight and haven’t found regularity, as they have played in Liguilla just once, in Guard1anes 2021.

Amaury Vergara can’t deal with Chivas situation and asked Grupo Orlegi for help

The following season, although Chivas was having ups and downs, they seemed to finally had found some stability with José Manuel Vucetich , but Amaury Vergara decided to fire the Mexican coach alleging poor results and installed Marcelo Michel Vergara instead.

So far, Michel Leaño has coached El Rebaño Sagrado for 15 games, in which he has won just four. All his victories have been against teams that are on the bottom part of the table, a fact that doesn’t speak well of his performance, but given that he’s friend of Vergara, his position is secured for now.

But it seems that Amaury Vergara finally started worrying about the bad streak that Chivas currently is, he decided to ask for help to one of the most successful Liga MX owners, to see if he can find a way to assist him turning things around and return Chivas to the top part of the table.

With whom did Amaury Vergara talk?

Although Atlas and Chivas are eternal rivals on the pitch, it seems that outside of it, their owners have a good relationship, as Vergara met with Alejandro Irarragorri and Grupo Orlegi to ask for their opinion about the situation that Chivas currently is in.

According to reports, if Vergara was to listen to the advice he was given, he’d part ways with Marcelo Michel Leaño and Ricardo Peláez, who currently is the Sporting Director of Chivas, as they are the responsible ones of the lack of solidity of the club and the weak project they have, if it even exists.

What else was talked in the meeting?

Grupo Orlegi is interested in expanding their sports empire, and although they haven’t shown any interest in buying another Liga MX team -they currently are pursuing the acquisition of Real Zaragoza-, given the good relationship that exists between them and Vergara and  knowing how profitable Chivas is, not only in the Mexican market but also in the US, they could potentially acquire El Rebaño if Vergara was to sell the club, a situation that could present soon if he doesn’t manage to give Chivas a title.
