Real Madrid may look to bring in another player for a cheap price after Kylian Mbappé.
BILD reports that along with Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid is interested in AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw. The young German center-back is valued at $32.1 million, according to Transfermarkt. Thiaw played for Schalke 04 since 2016 in the youth team but transferred to AC Milan in the summer of 2022 for $9 million. Real Madrid are looking for a cheap option in reinforcements since Mbappé's arrival could come in with a big price despite the French striker being a free agent in the summer. Mbappé's wages and extra bonuses for the deal could cost the club a big fee as if it were a transfer fee for PSG.
Thiaw has played 26 matches this season for AC Milan in all competitions, with 17 of them in the Serie A. The 22-year-old defender suffered injuries this season, which kept him out of action for many games. The Rossoneri decided to call back their loan player Mateo Gabbia from Villarreal in January due to Thiaw's injury problems. With limited minutes at AC Milan now, Real Madrid could consider him as a great option to add depth to the defense.
Real Madrid could use another centerback in their squad since David Alaba and Eder Militao missed a huge portion of the season, especially the Brazilian. Militao suffered an ACL injury in the first game of the La Liga season in August and returned to the pitch on March 31st. Alaba suffered a cruciate ligament injury in December, which has kept him out for the rest of the season. Next season, Nacho Fernandez is expected to leave the club since his contract with Real Madrid expires this summer.
The update on Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid
Fabrizio Romano gave an update on Mbappé's negotiations with Real Madrid and said the move is getting closer, but the announcement has been halted due to the Champions League. Romano said, "Mbappé and Real Madrid? It’s only about signing the contracts. Other details are sorted. The timing has to be respected. UCL is a big factor. I’m convinced that had PSG got knocked out in March, Mbappé would’ve spoken in public. But now with the UCL, he wants to respect PSG."
