Multiple sources like Mundo Deportivo and Fabrizio Romano have reported that Xavi Hernandez will stay at FC Barcelona until his contract expires in the summer of 2025 but he would have to get rid of his brother Oscar Hernandez from the coaching staff next season. FC Barcelona wants Xavi to make two changes in his coaching staff: the physical trainer and his assistant coach, Oscar Hernandez.

According to Gerardo Romero from Jijantes FC, Barcelona may have found an ideal replacement for Oscar Hernandez. While the Catalan club wants Xavi to remove his brother Oscar as his assistant coach next season, FC Barcelona is presumably offering Xavi to have Domenéc Torrent as his assistant coach. Domenéc Torrent was the assistant coach of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and at FC Barcelona.

At FC Barcelona, Torrent was the assistant manager of Pep Guardiola from 2008 to 2012 for a total of 247 games. The Spanish coach was also alongside Guardiola during their spell in Germany at Bayern Munich from 2013 to 2016 for a total of 161 games. Torrent was the assistant manager of Guardiola at Manchester City from 2016 to 2018 which lasted for 113 matches.

From there, he went on to become a first-team manager for teams like New York City FC, Flamengo, and Galatasaray. Torrent coached New York City FC from 2018 to 2019 for 60 games, averaging 1.68 points per game. In Flamengo, Torrent only coached 26 games, averaging 1.92 points per game. His last job was at Galatasaray, where he coached 20 games and averaged 1.30 points per game.

Joan Laporta to reveal Xavi staying at FC Barcelona next season

FC Barcelona was hopeful these past few months about convincing Xavi to stay next season, and now they have finally done it. Xavi announced his departure from the club in late January, but the club was not looking for candidates to replace him but instead rather tried convincing Xavi to stay. Tomorrow there may be confirmation about Xavi's new decision as club president Joan Laporta is expected to speak in the club's media.
