The USMNT will play away against El Salvador in its first World Cup qualifier. The match will be played on September 2. With the Nations League and Gold Cup behind them, the USMNT will head into the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers with confidence, even though they kick off the tournament as visitors in one of the most historically difficult places in the region.

The CONCACAF Nations League and Gold Cup titles are beginning to pay off for the United States, which climbed ten positions to rank 10th in the August FIFA Ranking, as announced by world soccer's governing body on Thursday. The USMNT moved into the top 10 teams in the world and achieved its best ranking in more than 15 years.

The United States scored 93 points and climbed 10 positions, following two titles won during the summer, in which they defeated Mexico, to move into the TOP-10 teams, according to the FIFA Ranking for the month of August.
