Now that the regular season of Clausura 2022 is over, Chivas are preparing to face Pumas UNAM in Repechaje for a ticket to Liguilla, as they will use the knockout stage to prove that the recent results are not out of luck.
Four games ago, El Rebaño Sagrado had little to no possibilities of making it into Liguilla, as they were out of the Repechaje spots thanks to the lack of planning that Marcelo Michel Leaño had, as he never found a way to establish a long-term project.
But after Amaury Vergara decided to part ways with him and give Ricardo Cadena the chance of coaching Chivas’s first team in the last part of Clausura 2022, El Rebaño managed to finish the season with four straight victories.
The 12 points earned in those four games gave them the chance of reaching the top half of Liga MX table and have a solid opportunity of becoming protagonists in Liguilla. But, at least for now, that hasn’t stopped Amaury Vergara and Ricardo Peláez from looking for a new coach for Apertura 2022.
Marcelo Bielsa coached Atlas and Club América in Liga MX during the 90s, which is why he doesn’t see with bad eyes returning to Mexico to continue his career, although he’s established three conditions to accept Chivas’ offer, according to Diario Récord.
The first condition that Bielsa established is to have full freedom to build the roster as he pleases, including being the only one involved in the signing of the new players and not the sporting director, something that affects Ricardo Peláez directly.
The second request he has is to supervise the academy teams himself, something he already did back in the 90s, as he was responsible for the debuts of several El Tri players, like Pavel Pardo, Jared Borgetti and Cuauhtémoc Blanco, among others.
“El Loco” Bielsa likes to be the one managing the disciplinary measures within his rosters, which is why he also requested that he oversees the disciplinary management, something that, if Chivas accept, will leave Ricardo Peláez without a real role in El Rebaño.
Chivas can have a top signing thanks to Guadalajara’s governor
