If Inter Miami were to sign Neymar this summer from Al Hilal, the MLS club would have to pay around $48 million to the Saudi Pro League club. Neymar's contract with Al Hilal expires next year in the summer, and the club wouldn't want the Brazilian to be let go for free should Neymar decide not to renew his contract. The Saudi Pro League invested a lot in signing Neymar from PSG last summer. The Brazilian star joined Al Hilal for around $98.6 million, but due to his age and the ACL injury he suffered, his market value dropped drastically.

Neymar's highest market value was in 2018, during his first season with PSG. The Brazilian star joined PSG from FC Barcelona for a historic $237.4 million transfer fee in the summer of 2017. Neymar was expected to win PSG's first Champions League trophy, but he fell short in 2020 in the final against Bayern Munich, where they lost 1-0. Over the years from 2020 to 2023, the Brazilian market value slowly dropped as he became injury-prone and was not as valuable to the PSG team as expected.

From his highest market value in 2018 to the start of 2020, Neymar lost more than $52 million worth of value in the market. His worst campaign with PSG was in the 2021/2022 season, where he registered 13 goals and eight assists in 28 matches in all competitions. Neymar started to fall out with Kylian Mbappé in his last year with the club, and it felt like a sour taste to the relationship between the pair. Now, at Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, with only five matches played, the club and the player could part ways since Al Hilal is on course to win the league with no losses without him.

Why Neymar would want to play at Inter Miami?

Neymar has often been seen in the United States to experience the culture here and often attends NBA games. He is good friends with Miami Heat player Jimmy Butler and goes on vacations in North America. He would also get the chance to play with his former teammates, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi. David Beckham could offer him a decent salary with perks like a stake in an MLS club in the future, which could interest Neymar, who has multiple businesses.
