While Neymar has started a partnership with Fun Brands to promote alcoholic beverages, Kylian Mbappé is opposed to it after his actions during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. FIFA has many partnerships during the World Cup, and one of the sponsors is the alcoholic beverage brand Budweiser. The French press reports that Mbappé refused to pose or show the logo of the brand during the photoshoots of him winning the "Man of the Match" awards. Since Mbappé purposely did not pose with the logo on the award, the French star paid a 10,000 euro fine. That fine is worth $10,701 in US dollars, and Mbappé paid a total of $31,103 in fines since the French star won three "Man of the Match" awards.
Mbappé is very concerned about his image rights, and this action was a way to protect himself from those beverages. In his image rights policy, he has specifically stated that he will not endorse junk food, alcohol, and sports betting. If Mbappé joins Real Madrid, he will accept a salary reduction, which would see him earn around $16 million a year but with 80% of his image rights that could nearly double his annual earnings.
Neymar's partnership with Fun Brands is based in Miami and promotes wine-based cocktails and zero-alcohol mocktails, which are set to launch in Brazil this year. While some beverages are alcoholic, Neymar also likes the idea of promoting non-alcoholic drinks. Neymar said, "I want to share the flavors of Brazil that I love the most with my soccer fans at home and around the world in a different and irreverent way. The idea of also offering non-alcoholic beverages greatly attracted me to the venture."
While Mbappé may soon make a move to Real Madrid this upcoming summer transfer window, the French star is entirely focused on winning all titles possible with PSG for the remainder of this season. PSG could win the Ligue 1 title tomorrow if they beat Le Havre at the Parc des Princes. Next week, PSG will play in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals against Borussia Dortmund in Germany. In late May, Mbappé and PSG will fight for the Coupe De France against Lyon in the final.
