2020 had an incredible final for André-Pierre Gignac, as the French attacker could finally celebrate a title with Tigres UANL, when winning the Concacaf Champions League. The attacker had key performances during all the campaign, scoring 26 goals and giving eight assists after 35 games played during 2019/20.

At his 35 years old, the striker could celebrate as he was looking to do so, since his arrival to Mexico on July 2015, when he left Olympique Marseille to arrive as a free agent at Tigres. After such final weeks of the year, Gignac received another distinction, with which he humiliated the two top MLS attackers, Mexicans Chicharito Hernández and Carlos Vela.

The IFFHS assured that Gignac was the top-scorer of the continent on international competitions during 2020. The attacker scored six times on the Concachampions, the same competition in which he also gave three assists after only six games played. A top exhibition for him.

The year wasn’t that good for Chicharito and Vela instead. The first one was eliminated on the regular season of the MLS with LA Galaxy, while the second one couldn’t advance on the MLS Cup Playoffs with Los Angeles FC and lost the final game of the Concacaf Champions League against Tigres.
