Lionel Messi continued his dominant performances for his country Argentina yesterday in the 3-0 over Uruguay, the country of Luis Suarez in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying series for CONMEBOL. Messi scored a very tricky goal in the match to set his record.
Neymar Jr has been one of the best South American footballers of this generation and he is the second highest scoring Brazilian with 69 international goals only behind Pele on 77, a record he will break very soon with just eight goals left for him to score.
Lionel Messi's record is also not far from the reach of Neymar Jr, he is just 11 goals away from it but it could be difficult, Messi is yet to retire and still scoring goals for Argentina. Neymar may retire soon as he already said the 2022 World Cup would be his last.
Neymar said in an interview on Sunday that he will play his last World Cup in Qatar and that he lacks the strength of mind to continue playing football. One thing is certain, the tricky Brazilian will certainly break Pele's record but may not break Messi's record.
