Xavi Hernandez was finally unveiled today as Barcelona boss and has already made his first mistake.

After weeks of speculation and negotiations between Barcelona and Al Sadd for the release of Xavi Hernandez to return to the club where he made his name, he was finally unveiled today as Barcelona boss and spoke to the media.

Xavi in his first press conference as Barca boss highlighted some of his plans and one of them suggests he may push Barcelona to a wrong limit over a player that has not been productive for the club but has spent more time getting injured than playing.

“Extending Ousmane Dembélé’s contract is one of our priorities, yes! He could be the best player in the world in his position. Ousmane has to work a lot, he has the potential to make the difference at Barça as a world top player. But he needs to be consistent”. Xavi said.

Dembele was signed in 2017 for €105m after the departure of Neymar to PSG but has not quite hit the form for Barcelona. He has instead spent more days on the sidelines than playing. His number of days missed due to injury is over 670days. His contract expires at the end of the season.
