Kylian Mbappé seems very close to joining Real Madrid this summer, and if he makes the move official, Nike will prepare to launch a brand dedicated to the French star similar to Micheal Jordan, LeBron James, and Rafael Nadal. Cristiano Ronaldo was never offered this opportunity in his career but the American brand is planning this for Mbappé if he does go to Spain to play for Real Madrid. Mbappé and Nike have been together since 2019 and the star would be the fourth international athlete to obtain a brand dedicated to him.

In 2019, Mbappé and Nike signed a 10-year deal, and the star player receives around $15.3 million a season with the American brand. This deal with proposing Mbappé's own sports brand comes as a shock to many fans since his arrival to Real Madrid means that he will wear the jersey that is sponsored by Adidas. Mbappé has always played with a Nike sponsored jersey, starting from his AS Monaco days to PSG and even with the French national team.

Eduardo Inda, the pundit of OK Diario in Spain, discussed the Nike proposal for Mbappé and explained how significant this move would be. Inda said on El Chiringuito, "Nike, which is the brand that fits the player, is seriously considering creating a line of its own for the player once he signs for Real Madrid. This is a privilege that Nike has only given three world athletes. One is Michael Jordan, which has the main line. The second is LeBron James and the third is Rafa Nadal. Kylian Mbappe could be the first footballer that has his own line within Nike."

Cristiano Ronaldo is paid more by Nike than Mbappé

Despite Mbappé reportedly offering his own brand line with Nike, Ronaldo continues to be the highest-paid player from the American brand. The Portuguese striker reportedly earns $24 million per year with Nike. Nike and Ronaldo have been together since 2003, and in 2016, they agreed to have a long-term partnership in football for life. A reported guaranteed sum of $1 billion has been agreed in the agreement between Nike and Ronaldo according to Forbes and Sportico.
