While Inter Miami has reportedly shown interest in signing Neymar Jr. to reunite him with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to form the MSN again, the salary of the Brazilian could cause an issue. Neymar reportedly earns $2 million a week and has a yearly salary of $106.6 million at Al Hilal. Regardless of where he plays next, Neymar's salary would drop drastically since the Saudi Arabian clubs are richer than most clubs in the world. Even though Neymar's salary will drop, it would be higher than Messi's $12 million a year salary and definitely higher than Suarez's reported $200k a year.
Neymar signed a two-year contract with Al Hilal last summer from PSG but could look for new options when his contract expires next year. Neymar has said that he would like to play in Europe again, but other options have become realistic, including Inter Miami. Some football fans assume that if Neymar earns more than Messi and Suarez, it could cause tension, but their friendship seems strong for that to happen. Neymar may also just want a base salary instead of a stake in an MLS club in the future, like how Messi does.
The reason for this is because of his potential return to Santos FC, his boyhood club, which allowed him to make his professional debut. Neymar has been to games recently in Brazil, and UOL from Brazil reports that the Brazilian has made a promise to return to the club as a player after Al Hilal. Other rumors suggest that Neymar may want to purchase a stake in the club as well in the future with his father.
Neymar suffered an ACL injury last October, which has kept them out of action with Al Hilal, and he has missed the entire season. Neymar only got to play five matches with Al Hilal before his injury, but he seems closer to a return to the pitch after posting himself juggling a ball on the field. Neymar's return is expected to be this summer with full fitness.
