The FIFA countries ranking states that México is better than the USA

Mexico is better than rivals USA according to the latest FIFA rankings released on September 12 despite the USA beating Mexico in their last two meetings and winning two trophies with the victories.

FIFA ranked the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup and CONCACAF Nations League winners USA in 10th position below Mexico who they defeated to win both trophies in the space of two months with different squads.

The two countries have maintained years of competitive rivalry and have met 74 times, Mexico have won 38, USA have won 22 while 14 have ended in draws, they have also met in 10 finals with Mexico winning more.

USA gained over 90 scoring points and Mexico scored over 28 scoring points to make the top 10 in world rankings and first and second in CONCACAF respectively. They are both 1st and 2nd in the CONCACAF FIFA World Cup qualifying group.
