Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo: who has the better statistics at their new clubs?

Lionel Messi for the first time in his professional career is playing for a club other than FC Barcelona after the club was unable to register him with La Liga despite taking more than 50% pay cut. He had no choice but to leave the club and signed for Paris Saint-Germain.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the club where he announced himself to the world as a teenager, Manchester United after 12years away from the club. He first left the club in 2009 to join Real Madrid and also played for Juventus for three years before finally returning to Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo has had the better start to life in his new club of the two players. He has scored five goals in six games for Manchester United. Three goals in four games in the Premier League and two goals in two games in the UEFA Champions League including a last minute winner against Villarreal.

Lionel Messi has not had the start he would have dreamed of at PSG. In five games he has scored just one goal, coming in the UEFA Champions League against his former manager Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. In the league he has played three games but failed to score and has missed two games due to injury.
