Lionel Messi is arguably the best player of this generation. He is a six times world footballer of the year and holds a lot of records. In his best league season of his career, the 2011/12 season under Pep Guardiola, he scored 50 league goals, a record in all of Europe's top five leagues. The closest anyone came to the record was Cristiano Ronaldo with 48 goals.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's best league scoring season came for Paris Saint-Germain in the 2015/16 season when he scored 38 league goals in the French Ligue 1, a France Ligue record that is yet to be broken. Zlatan was 35years old when he set the record which makes it even more incredible.

Lionel Messi is now a PSG player having made the switch to the Paris club at the beginning of the season. Messi is a proven goalscorer and despite playing in a struggling Barcelona side last season scored 30 league goals. He is yet to score a league goal for PSG, could he break Ibrahimovic's record if he starts scoring?

Another Ligue 1 record held by a PSG player and is within the reach of Lionel Messi is the PSG and Ligue 1 assist record. The record is held by Messi's PSG and Argentina teammate Angel Di Maria who provided 18 assists for PSG in the 2015/16 season, same season Zlatan Ibrahimovic set the goalscoring record.
