Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani are the best Uruguayan strikers of their generation who have achieved success with top clubs in Europe as well as the Uruguayan national team. The two strikers led the line when Uruguay finished 4th in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and won the Copa America in 2011.

Luis Suarez made his debut for Uruguay in 2007 while Edinson Cavani came into the fold a year later in 2008 and the two made the transition from Diego Forlan an easy one for the two times FIFA World Cup winner, beyond goals and trophies, the two have been leaders and inspiration for the next generation of Uruguayan players.

The two prolific strikers have identical and closely related records for the national team, both have played 126 games but Luis Suarez has scored more goals. Luis Suárez El Pistolero has scored 65 goals while Edinson Cavani El Matador has scored 53 goals.

The two strikers have a few other things in common, one of which is coming from the same hometown. They both were born in Salto, in North Western Uruguay, the second most populous Uruguayan City.
