The French Super Cup title brings Messi’s tally to 41, already within touching distance of the all-time title winner Dani Alves.

The conquest of the 2022 French Super Cup was the second title in the Parisian history of Messi and the beginning of a season that, could be a record-breaking season for Leo who also looks to make history at the club that has signed him a year ago.

The 35-year-old Argentine star still has several records to break in soccer. And he has set his sights on one of them: to be the player in the history of the sport with the most titles in his career. Leo, for now surpassed the figure of 40 and stands at 41, only two titles behind his good friend Dani Alves, recently signed by Pumas of Mexico.

Alves, in his career with Barça and the Brazilian National Team, fundamentally, has stopped for now at some 43 titles that, in the Mexican team, will not be easy for him to surpass, since Pumas has not won the Mexican Liga Mx since 2011 nor the MexicanCup since 1975. Alves has a more complicated task.

In that sense, Messi's path to the top of soccer, in terms of individual awards, is much more likely, since PSG is practically the only contender in Ligue 1 and it is also likely that he could win the Coupe de France. With those two, he would already tie Dani.

Other players in the top title list

Of those behind, Iniesta (37) doesn't have it easy in Japan; Pique (36) could scratch a few more titles; and Cristiano (34) doesn't seem to be in a winning context with United right now either. Therefore, this looks like an Alves-Messi fight. The difference, also in Leo's favor, is that the Brazilian is 39 years old and the Argentine is living a happy 35.
