Now that he was officially introduced as the new coach of Manchester United, one of the first things that Erik ten Hag wants to do is to get reunited with Frenkie de Jong, midfielder that he coached when he was in AFC Ajax.

The replacement of Cristiano Ronaldo in Manchester United? Erik ten Hag found his new striker

According to reports from Catalonian sports journalist Oriol Domenech, FC Barcelona has agreed to sell Frenkie de Jong and already accepted an offer from The Red Devils, but now a new problem has surfaced for Manchester United, as the Dutch midfielder isn’t keen on the idea of leaving Camp Nou.

Although he’s tried to talk him into joining The Red Devils, Erik ten Hag hasn’t been able to convince him to leave the Blaugranas, and the main reason seems to be that United won’t be playing Champions League next year, as they were only able to earn a ticket to the UEFA Europa League.

Manchester United has another midfielder in line

If the arrival of de Jong doesn’t end up happening, ten Hag and Manchester United have another option to fill the place left by Paul Pogba in the midfield, as they made a new offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Rubén Neves.

According to reports from The Sun, the 25-year-old will be on the move over the summer, as both Manchester United and FC Barcelona are looking to sign the Portuguese international, but The Red Devils are the ones ready to push harder for his addition.

Manchester United have offered $57 million for him, an offer above his current market value, which is set at $50 million, and that will leave Barcelona out of the race given the economic problems that the Blaugranas are facing.
