Is no lie to say that Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has always invested in sports, especially when it comes to boos the career of Mexican athletes. Although in the past he invested in Liga MX alongside Grupo Pachuca in CF Pachuca and Club León, it’s been a while since he’s had invested in any other club than Real Oviedo, from Spain’s second flight.

But lately there’s been rumors of his interest in investing in another club, whether is in Europe or America. And given the facilities to acquire an expansion franchise in the MLS, he sees with good eyes investing in the American soccer.

Arturo Elías Ayub, his right-hand man, has accepted that they could invest in the MLS on the next few years. And they’re not the only ones looking to own a soccer club, as Cristiano Ronaldo is keen on investing on a club for the future, something he's started to do, but in the e-sports world

Currently, there’s plans in MLS to expand the league until it becomes a 32-club league. For now, early plans for franchises in Las Vegas, Detroit and Indianapolis have started, and both Cristiano and Slim could own one of these teams, as they’re looking for investors.
