Marcelo Flores has already played two friendly matches with the Mexican national team.

Marcelo Flores has been one of the most popular players this year if we talk about the next promises of the Mexican national team and even the world soccer. Born in Canada but the son of a Mexican father, he has said that his desire is to play with the Mexican national team, however, he could also represent the Maple Leafs or even England, as he has lived in London for more than 5 years.

The Mexican press has identified Marcelo as a talented player with great future potential, and there has been no shortage of coverage of the crack player who plays for Arsenal's youth teams.

There has even been controversy since, having the possibility of choosing three national teams (Mexico, Canada, England) every time a match of the national team led by Tata Martino approaches, there is always the question of whether the 18-year-old will be called up.

Given his skills, Canada is also tempting the player to choose the Maple Leaf, but so far he has opted for Mexico, a team with which he has also followed the youth process.

A year of growth for Marcelo

Marcelo not only made his debut this season with the Mexico national team in December when they faced Chile in the United States in a friendly match, but he went from representing Arsenal's U-18 team to the U-23 team, due to his good performances and great skills.

With the Gunners in the Under-23s, he has scored five goals in 11 games played since starting 2022, as well as providing one assist.

His good performances led to a call-up to the first team, which is coached by Spaniard Mikel Arteta. On April 4, the Mexican could taste his first call-up with the Gunners to play in the Premier League, however, he was left on the bench, where Arsenal lost 3-0 against Crystal Palace.

Despite not having made his debut, the fact of being called up to the first team is a good sign for the Mexican, who at only 18 years of age is already considered a viable option for the first team.

After establishing himself with Arsenal U-23, Marcelo Flores was called up by Mexico's U-20 national team to play friendly matches against Uruguay, where he also scored a brace. After his great match, Tata Martino called him back for the friendly against Guatemala with the first team of the national team on April 28, where he came on as a second-half substitute.

Consolidation will be necessary

Marcelo Flores has been a great revelation this year and to continue with good performances he will have to keep his mind on soccer with a lot of discipline, so, he will be able to achieve the necessary maturity that could take him to the first team of Arsenal, as well as to the national team.

Time will tell how Marcelo evolves and the hope is that this player does not remain a promising player and can consolidate his career as a footballer in the elite.
