Cadena has won the two games he’s coached El Rebaño.

Now that Marcelo Michel Leaño left Chivas given the poor results that they had during the 13 rounds of Clausura 2022, as he left them out of Repechaje spots, El Rebaño Sagrado has showed a new face with Ricardo Cadena as their coach.

Amaury Vergara is negotiating with a coach that will have foreigner players in Chivas

In the two games that Chivas has played with the former CD Tapatío coach on their dugout, Chivas have earned the six available points, giving them possibilities of earning a spot in Repechaje, as they currently stand eighth, with 20 points.

With Michel Leaño, El Rebaño were able to win only three games in the season, as well as five draws for a total of 14 points that had them out of the playoffs. But what worried the most about, was the poor performances they had, as they didn’t know how to close the games.

Cadena has changed the face of El Rebaño Sagrado, making them a solid team through the 90 minutes and helping them to close the games when needed, like they did against Cruz Azul in Estadio Azteca. Amaury Vergara knows that Cadena is the best option for Chivas, but in order for him to stay he’s requested a few things.

Cadena’s request to remain as Chivas coach

According to the report of the Mexican outlet Sancadilla, Vergara is considering keeping Ricardo Cadena as their coach for at least another season, but only if the good results keep coming and they make it to Liguilla.

Cadena, who knows well the Chivas structure, is willing to remain as El Rebaño’s coach, although the things he’s asking to accept the challenge is to have a balance between players on the current roster and the ones of the academy teams, as well as having enough freedom to build his roster as he pleases.

Although this could be seen as a good thing for El Rebaño, Ricardo Peláez isn’t happy with his requests, as it would prevent him from imposing players on the starting XI, something he has done with the past few coaches.

What other options does Chivas have to be their new coach?

Matías Almeyda is the strongest candidate given the history and success he had in El Rebaño during his first stint, but the problems he had with Amaury Vergara are preventing an agreement. Andrés Lillini, Pumas coach, has also been linked to Chivas.
