As it turned out, the Spanish coach and the Colombian midfielder met on the first day of Everton's preseason to define the future of the South American in 2021-22. However, the news is not good for the former Bayern Munich.

The day Everton announced the arrival of Rafa Benítez as new coach, James Rodríguez recalled the bad times he lived with the Spanish coach at Real Madrid and thought that his continuity for the 2021-22 season would be at risk. Indeed, the Colombian midfielder was not wrong since his name does not appear in the plans of the coach of the Premier League club.

This has been made known to you from the first day that their paths came together again. According to information from ‘El Chiringuito’, Benítez and Rodríguez met at the beginning of the preseason. In this meeting, the coach informed the footballer that he is not in his work plan for 2021-22, that while the Spanish is on the bench, James will not have the opportunity to play.

"Everton's first day of preseason. Rafa Benítez, new coach of the English club, has a meeting with James Rodríguez, a meeting in which he tells him the following: 'James, I'm not counting on you, you're not going to play with me' ”, revealed the renowned Edu Aguirre on the future of the talented Colombian midfielder.

In his short stay at Everton, James Rodríguez has played 26 games in which he has scored six goals and distributed eight assists. The future of the midfielder born in Cúcuta is a mystery, in the middle of the transfer market. However, no concrete offers have reached the Goodison Park offices.
