Cruz Azul had in this 2021, a new opportunity to win the Liga MX title, a decoration that it had not achieved since the Winter of 1997, and recovered 24 years later. However, in the middle they have been close to getting it, but they had to settle for second place in the table.
One of the players that make up the current squad, and has experienced more runner-up episodes, is José de Jesús Corona. The veteran goalkeeper is about to celebrate 12 years in the team and added a total of four experiences in Liga MX finals with the Blues.
In this way, José se Jesús Corona declared, in a press conference, that having played four finals under the arc of the Machine has left him great experiences. “He has given me great lessons (the final lost with Cruz Azul), one of them is knowing that the series lasts 180 minutes or something more and one should not fall into excess of confidence. You can't feel bigger than your rival”, he explained.
The experienced goalkeeper had to leave behind three lost finals, with all that that means. However, the fact of never lowering his arms sooner or later pays off, and today, a decade after arriving at the club, he can say that he was finally champion.
