One of Germany's most iconic players of the past decade could be close to retirement. At just 33 years old, Mesut Özil is already contemplating hanging up his boots and playing video games if he doesn't reach an agreement with Fenerbache. Since the middle of last season the midfielder had problems with his coach.

Özil's representative, Eskut Sogut, confirmed in an interview that, in case of being separated from Fenerbache, he will no longer be looking for a new team. Despite his age and potential to further his career, the idea of eSports seems more appealing.
For now, Mesut has a contract with Fenerbache until the summer of 2024. The German has commented that his intention is to end said agreement and then retire. However, since he had problems with his technical director, the player was separated from the team. To date he has not been able to train at the level of his teammates and hopes to fix it for next season.
The player has his own eSports team, 'M10 ESPORTS', which he founded in 2018 in the company of an agency and has been successful so far. As if that were not enough, the same representative of Özil assured that the player is "very good" for Fortnite and that he would not be surprised to see him compete one day.
