No more Victor Osimhen, the cheaper striker Chelsea wants to sign this summer

Chelsea FC has spent over $1 billion since the takeover of American businessman Todd Boehly, and the club is ready to spend big again. Chelsea may have to be patient during this summer transfer window as the club could face punishments for potentially breaching Financial Fair Play rules. The club needs to generate $100 million by the end of June. Chelsea is trying to sign Victor Osimhen this summer as the Napoli striker is open to leaving the Italian champions this summer despite signing a contract till 2026. Chelsea will need to sell players quickly to get Osimhen and avoid a race to sign him, but now the club is looking for a cheaper alternative.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the price tag for Victor Osimhen this summer could go up to $140 million. This fee seems impossible for Chelsea to pay for Osimhen, and the Italian journalist mentions that the London club could target another striker at a cheaper price.

Romano said, "Chelsea's appreciation of Osimhen remains. So, Chelsea have not changed their mind in terms of appreciating Osimhen and consider him a great candidate [to be their] new striker. But Chelsea have to understand and wait on the situation of Financial Fair Play and how much they can really spend on the striker. As soon as they will know that, they will decide on the striker position. [Benjamin] Sesko is on the list, Osimhen is on the list. For Osimhen, there is a big appreciation, but it depends also on the salary, signing fee, commission, all this stuff."

Benjamin Sesko's market value at RB Leipzig

Chelsea has Sesko in their sights since the young striker is currently valued at $43 million. The Slovenian striker has eight goals and two assists in 25 matches in the Bundesliga this season. He started in 12 Bundesliga matches for RB Leipzig but he has become a target for other clubs like Arsenal as well.
