Juventus qualified for the next Champions League on the last day of the season with a 4-1 victory in Bologna and thus joined Milan, Atalanta and Inter, Serie A champions. Andrea Pirlo's side suffered until even after the final whistle, since his passage depended on what happened with Napoli, which finally equaled with Hellas Verona. The southern side, which drew 1-1 at Diego Armando Maradona, then had to settle for a place in the Europa League, as did Lazio.

Cristiano Ronaldo was left on the relay bench by Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo, who opted for an offensive formation of Paulo Dybala and Álvaro Morata accompanied by Federico Chiesa and Dejan Kulusevski. A double from the Spanish together with goals from Federico Chiesa and Adrien Rabiot allowed the Turin team to prevail in their commitment and close the campaign with a celebration.

Regarding the substitution of the Portuguese, the sports director Fabio Paratici, had explained in the previous one: "Cristiano is doing well, he has simply played five games in 15 days and on Wednesday it was a very tiring game", referring to the final of the Italy Cup.

Once the duel was over, CR7 published on his Instagram profile an image of him in which he puts the index to his mouth to silence his detractors. At the bottom of the image he wrote his typical cry: "Ssssiiiiimmmmm", as a celebration for having fulfilled the objective of taking Juventus to the Champions League and avoiding what would have been a categorical failure.

This post comes amid rumors about a possible exit. The Italian press pointed out that if the team did not get a ticket to the European competition, the Portuguese would find a way to leave, despite the fact that he has a valid contract until June 2022. Even a video filmed by one of his neighbors gave a possible clue about a move.
