A surprising event took place today in France's Ligue 1 when their own fans booed Lionel Messi and Neymar in the PSG vs Bordeaux match

PSG’s project for Lionel Messi was a failure, and now they want to replace him with a Mexican player

Although Paris Saint-Germain won the match 3-0 at the end of the game, their fans still have not forgotten the disappointment of the UEFA Champions League

The booing for the two players and for the team's coach, Mauricio Pochettino, was immediate and echoed throughout the Parc des Princes.

The moment when Lionel Messi and Neymar were booed was captured on video

At the moment of presenting the squad to the public and announcing the players and coach, everything was applause when the name of Kylian Mbappé was mentioned; however, the change came when Neymar, Messi, and Pochettino were mentioned.

At that moment was when the booing filled the stadium and no one could do anything to make this heard, and to prevent it from being recorded on video.

Despite this bitter pill to swallow, Pochettino's club managed to beat Bordeaux with authority, and with goals from Kylian Mbappé in the 24th minute, Neymar in the 52nd minute, and Leandro Paredes in the 61st minute, PSG go top of Ligue 1.

PSG rules at home, but can't win away

The case of Paris Saint-Germain is quite complicated as they seem to have no opponents in France's Ligue 1: they are in first place in the competition and their closest rival, Nice, has 50 points.

This amount might seem a lot, but they are in fact 15 points behind PSG who accumulate 65 points and are also the top-scoring club in the competition with 59.

The problem is that the club cannot bring this same level of effectiveness to European competitions, especially at crucial moments.

Since the Parisian club returned to the competition in 2012-2013 after more than 10 years of not being part of it, they have been eliminated in both the Round of 16 and the Quarterfinals.

The only time they came close to lifting the title was in the 2019-2020 season when they finished runners-up after losing in the final to Bayern Munich

That is why the club presided over by Qatar's Al-Khelaïfi will have to do some serious self-analysis to find out what it takes for them to achieve glory outside of France's Ligue 1.

With the loss to Real Madrid, who were led by an inspired Karim Benzema, PSG has now failed to win the UEFA Champions League for the tenth time.

Will the current squad return to the competition next season or is this the end of Kylian Mbappé and Al-Khelaïfi's dream of bringing the ultimate glory to Paris Saint-Germain?
