The Frenchman averted a tragedy at the Parc des Princes.

The electrifying duel between the Merengues and the rouge-et-bleu had everything, but what stood out the most was that Mbappé saved Paris Saint-Germain from Lionel Messi's missed penalty, who from the 11 steps could not sentence the match.

In a match in which Kylian Mbappé was the MVP, and a very defensive Real Madrid was seen, and at times without proposal, a real tragedy almost happened at the Parc des Princes

Thibaut Courtois saved Real Madrid from a penalty goal

The duel went as normal, so to speak as Real Madrid was unrecognizable throughout the match, with a game plan devised by Carlo Ancelotti to stay back, waiting for the moment to attack.

However, the wait turned out to be eternal as, during the almost 90 minutes of the match, the game seemed like a goal shooting practice by PSG.

In fact, the statistics show how the Merengues stayed in their area to wait for Messi and Mbappé's attacks since while PSG had 8 shots at the opponent's goal, Real Madrid had 0.

Suddenly came a gift for the home side in the 60th minute, when Dany Carvajal committed a foul on Kylian Mbappé, which was reviewed by the VAR as a mere formality.

Once the foul was validated, the referee did the inevitable: he awarded a penalty kick in favor of Paris Saint-Germain. The man chosen to take the penalty was none other than Messi, who took the ball, positioned himself in the penalty area, and took his shot.

Unfortunately for him, Thibaut Courtois was inspired and prevented the goal, which left the Parc des Princes in silence, with the TV cameras focused on the Argentine's face, which reflected the guilt.

Perhaps because of this, from that moment onwards, Messi was in more of a hurry to go forward, to look for balls that were impossible for him, and to provide more attacking depth to the rouge-et-bleu, who saw their chance to score completely wasted.

And had the game ended goalless, or with a Madrid goal, the Argentine would probably have had the weight of the world on his shoulders. But fortunately for him, that was not the case.

Kylian Mbappé prevented a tragedy at the Parc des Princes and saved PSG's life

The game continued with the same dynamic, now with a more willing Ancelotti to go on the attack, and perhaps that is why he made changes to be more offensive with the entry of Gareth Bale for Benzema.

However, in general, PSG continued to dominate the offense and in the 94th minute, almost at the end, the miracle happened and the Parisians were finally able to break the wall that Madrid had planted at the back.

In that minute, the Frenchman, who had dominated his flank with no difficulty, took a shot that went through two rival defenders and the legs of Courtois, and into the back of the net to crown the efforts of a team that from the start went on the attack.
