Tigres ended their participation in the 2020 Club World Cup in the second place after falling in the grand final against Bayern Munich (1-0), something that had not happened in history with a club that represents Mexico and Concacaf. With this, the group directed by Ricardo 'Tuca' Ferretti has written his name in gold letters in this competition, being the mexican team with the better mark in the championship.
That day, Tigres could do nothing to avoid a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich in the final of the Club World Cup in Qatar, where Nahuel Guzmán ended up being the figure of a team that did not attack or look for the goal that would bring them closer to be the champions of the world.
Bayern made it 1-0 in the 59th minute in a controversial move that had initially been annulled by an advanced position but was ultimately validated by the VAR. Robert Lewandowski finished off a center inside the area that goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán managed to stop, but Benjamin Pavard appeared on the rebound to define without a mark and with an open goal.
In total, 8 teams are Mexicans who played a club World Cup. Necaxa was the first, and they were followed by América, Pachuca, Atlante, Monterrey, Cruz Azul, Chivas and Tigres.
