Barcelona finally sacked head coach Ronald Koeman on Wednesday after the defeat to Rayo Vallecano which leaves the club in ninth position on the La Liga table, a decision admitted by President Joan Laporta came too late.

Barcelona B head coach Sergi Bajuan will be in charge until Xavi is released in his current role as manager of Al Sadd, who have agreed to release him to Barcelona but want him in charge of the crunch tie against Al-Duhail on November 3 before he moves to Barcelona next month.

According to multiple reports in Spain, he has told the Barcelona board of the two players he would want as his first signings including a player of his former boss Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, Raheem Sterling and a French defender linked to Chelsea and Real Madrid, Jules Koundé from Sevilla.

Raheem Sterling is valued at £70 by Manchester City while Sevilla refused to sell Jules Koundé to Chelsea after they failed to meet their valuation of £55m in the summer. Sterling is needed for Barcelona's lack of options on the wing with Ousmane Dembele out of contract and always injured while Eric Garcia is yet to impress. It remains to be seen if Barcelona can afford £125m.
