Xavi's managerial reign at Barcelona will begin tomorrow with a lot of anticipation and fanfare. His first fixture as manager couldn't have been more important than a local derby against one of Barcelona's long term rivals Espanyol.

Xavi spent 17 years donning the red and blue colours of FC Barcelona between 1998 and 2015. He made a reputation as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation and in the process had some fantastic numbers but the numbers against Espanyol were special.

He played 36 games against Espanyol as a player and won 25 which makes it the club he has recorded the most wins against in his career as a professional player. The matches were spread across La Liga, Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey matches.

His tally of six goals against the Catalan club is also his highest against any club in his career. He didn't score much actually, only 85 goals for Barcelona. His 500th appearance for Barcelona also came against Espanyol. He would hope to begin his journey as Barcelona manager in an outstanding fashion tomorrow.
