Steven Gerrard spent 17 years as a player in the Premier League and only played for Liverpool. He played over 500 games, and scored over 100 games for Liverpool though he never won a Premier League trophy and is regarded as one of the best midfielders to play in the league.

He left Liverpool in 2015 and played for Los Angeles Galaxy for just a season before he began pursuing his coaching badges and coached the Liverpool U18 team for a season before moving to Rangers.

At Rangers, he won the league last season unbeaten for the club and broke the 10 years monopoly of Celtic beating the club in the Old Firm derby. He began this season on a high before Aston Villa's position became vacant and he left to coach in the Premier League.

Other than being one of Liverpool's greatest players, Gerrard is tipped to become Liverpool's manager after Jurgen Klopp's contract expires in 2024 even though his appointment to Aston Villa doesn't affect that dream. His Liverpool legacy is untouched as Aston Villa is not a direct rival of Liverpool.
