Newcastle United are set to enter the fray of the big boys in the Premier League after the club's takeover by the Saudi Arabian-owned Public Investment Fund (PIF) was completed on Thursday. With the Public Investment Fund having up to £250bn in assets, Newcastle United have automatically become the richest club in the world by the assets of its owners. For context, Manchester City owners have only £23bn in assets.

With the takeover complete, the arrival of big-name players and coaches is imminent as is the tradition after the takeover of a club by a super-rich power. When Manchester City was taken over, they immediately brought in Robinho from Real Madrid.

For Newcastle United, the current coach, Steve Bruce has admitted that he expects to lose his job sooner rather than later as he thinks the club would want to go for a more popular coach. On the Toffees shortlist of coaches are former Chelsea player & coach, Frank Lampard and current Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard.

Both Premier League legends are a good fit to take over at the managerial realm while the club tries to attract a bigger name. The coach is expected to be paid an annual salary of about £20m. Frank Lampard is out of a job at the moment and he might be the easier option to go for. In any case, the PIF is certainly going to throw money around to attract some of the biggest names in soccer.
