After 23 years and almost five months of waiting, Cruz Azul once again consecrated himself in Mexican soccer after beating Santos Laguna in the final of the Guard1anes Clausura 2021 of the Liga MX. And great responsibility in this conquest has Juan Reynoso, who took the reins of the team for this tournament and now manages to hold the champion mark as a coach and player (Invierno 1997). 

In a press conference, the Peruvian strategist chose to give a special dedication to Enrique Meza, after mentioning that without the historic coach of La Maquina and Mexican soccer he would never have managed to break this drought without titles. After the coronation at the Azteca Stadium, he assured that his medal will be taken personally to 'Ojitos', and recalled his wishes that he end the "torture".

"I feel blessed, I feel supported by the players. I will not tire of thanking, but I still want to take advantage of the moment and congratulate my grandparents, my parents, my family as my wife, children. To the players and their families. I wanted to take advantage of it. the moment, to thank someone and it is the teacher Meza. For his part, Reynoso dedicated the championship to the references of the Cruz Azul staff who accumulate the most time in the institution, such as José de Jesús Corona, Julio César Domínguez and Adrián Aldrete, who on several occasions were defeated in the grand final of the Fiesta Grande.

"Sometimes we are not in the right place and time. One remembers and players of impressive and technical category have passed, but they could not live today.
