Manchester United have reportedly put up the likes of Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Alex Telles up for sale this summer in a bid to balance the books.

Manchester United has been splashing the cash this summer transfer window. So far, the Old Trafford side has signed Borussia Dortmund winger, Jadon Sancho for £73m. They have also agreed a deal to sign Real Madrid’s defender, Raphael Varane for £35m.

Having spent a cumulative £108m in transfer fees without any significant money coming in from player sales, they now need to balance the books. According to ESPN, the Manchester United hierarchy has listed up to 8 first-team players on the list of players available to be sold this summer.

The 8 first-teamers on the list are reported to be: Anthony Martial, Daniel James, Jesse Lingard, Brandon Williams, Diogo Dalot, Alex Telles, Phil Jones, and Andreas Pereira. Anthony Martial is the subject of enquiries from Tottenham Hotspur but the £50m valuation of the forward by Manchester United seem to have put Tottenham off. Jesse Lingard is the other player likely to generate money for the Red Devils with West Ham hoping for another deal for the England International.

The exclusion of Paul Pogba from this list shows that the United hierarchy would like to keep the French defender. Despite his refusal to sign a contract extension beyond the 2022 expiry on his current contract. However, if United finally decides to cash in on the former Juventus star, they will be in line to get up to £50m from his sale.
