The Uruguayan attacker could leave the MLS and play in Europe for the first time in his career.

Carlos Vela had a strange year, but when coming back from his injury he found at LAFC a competitive team. In the absence of the Mexican idol some other companions showed their best level and help the club to reach the MLS Cup Playoffs, in which they’ll be facing Seattle Sounders.

The squad coached by Bob Bradley has a lot of top talented players and one of those is Brian Rodríguez. The Uruguayan attacker played 23 games this season, much more than the ones played during the last campaign, due to the injury of Vela. The result were three goals, six assists and top performances.

His level was so good that some European sides put an eye on him. Benfica is the club chasing Rodríguez that wants to take him out from the MLS. The forward arrived to LAFC on August 2019, when the MLS club paid $11 million to Peñarol former club to sign him. It was a huge investment that now is starting to give its rewards.

Rodríguez is only 20 years old and also plays for Uruguay national team, where he scored three goals after eight appearances. At Benfica he could reunite with his compatriot Darwin Núñez. Rodríguez's career will be defined soon, after the MLS Cup Playoffs, as Benfica could take him from LAFC.
