The Mexican national team is close to playing in a new World Cup and Gerardo Martino is looking to establish himself and achieve an outstanding participation. However, his process has been harshly criticized and now, according to RECORD, the coach could take a step back even before the World Cup. If this were to happen, Mexican soccer legend Hugo Sanchez would step forward.

To the surprise of many, Hugo Sanchez shared on ESPN Mexico that he would be delighted to coach El Tri in the next World Cup if Gerardo Martino decides to resign or be fired by the Mexican federation. For this reason, some scenarios are already being considered, such as the possible return of Carlos Vela to the Mexican national team.

Carlos Vela would understand that if Hugo Sanchez arrives, the conditions in the Mexican national team would change on a large scale and for this reason he would be willing to return since he trusts the work that Hugo could do with El Tri. In addition, the good relationship between the two would be a key factor for this.

What did Hugo Sanchez say about Martino?

Once again, the person who went on the attack against Gerardo Martino was former striker Hugo Sanchez who, in an interview with ESPN, said: "If they call me and tell me they are taking him out, I will take over the Mexican National Team 45 days before the World Cup. But it's not up to me.  In this sense, Hugo Sánchez later made an even worse comment: "I deeply regret that Tata Martino is the coach of the national team. I deeply regret that.
