Atlas FC is waiting for their rival in the final of Clausura 2022.

Club América will face CF Pachuca in Estadio Hidalgo on Sunday night for the second leg of the semifinals of Clausura 2022, a game that Las Águilas must win if they want to make it into the final and keep up the good performances achieved in the past three months.

The millionaire it would cost Club América to get Luis Suárez. Does the possibility vanish?

Fernando “Tano” Ortíz is the artificer of the outstanding second half of the season that Las Águilas have had, as he found a way of making them follow one idea throughout 90 minutes, as well as boosting the strengths of his players on the pitch with a formation that benefits them.

But one of the missing pieces that Club América has, and that Fernando Ortíz is still looking is a forward that can score consistently, given that neither Henry Martín nor Federico Viñas have been that player during the season.

Viñas only managed to score one goal in the regular season, and even if he’s become the predilect of “El Tano”, the lack of aim showed last game could cost him the starting role in Las Águilas lineup on their visit to Pachuca, although Henry Martín is not much of an improvement.

Club América, after an Atlas FC striker for Apertura 2022

That’s why Fernando Ortíz and Club América are already looking for a new forward to join Las Águilas for Apertura 2022, and one of the candidates currently plays for Atlas FC, team that is waiting in the final to know who their rival is going to be.

Given the good relationship that exists between Grupo Orlegi, owner of Atlas, and Club América, as they usually have negotiated in the past for several Santos Laguna players, including Diego Valdés, it is more than possible that Los Rojinegros are willing to send Julián Quiñones to América.

The Colombian striker joined Atlas this season on a 1-year loan with option to buy from Tigres, and given the good performances that he’s had, Los Rojinegros didn’t doubt to exercise the buy option, something that could elevate the price that they ask for his transfer.

How much will América have to pay for him?

According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is set at $5.3 million, a sum that Club América can pay if they are decided to acquire the Colombian international, although they could lower the asking price if they include a player on the deal, like Federico Viñas, who could benefit from a fresh start elsewhere.
