It was a great season for American footballers playing in Europe and several of them were champions

The 2020-2021 season in European soccer will be statistically remembered for the United States, since they have achieved the most successful performance in history, after 14 players from this country were crowned champions in 11 different competitions throughout the year. And it could be 15 if on Saturday Chelsea, with Christian Pulisic, win the Champions League against Manchester City

In total, eight of these players won league titles and the remaining six Cup, although there are cases in which they won both competitions, such is the case of Zack Steffen, Manchester City goalkeeper, who conquered the Premier League and Carabao Cup, where he participated on the court. The goalkeeper of the United States team's joined by midfielder Brenden Aaronson, who in his first season playing for RB Salzburg won all possible titles in Austrian football, winning the Bundesliga and the Cup of that country.

Among the league champions are striker Tim Weah, champion with Lille in Ligue 1 in France, breaking the hegemony of Paris Saint Germain; forward Jordan Siebatcheu, monarch with Young Boys in the Swiss Super League, and defender Henry Wingo, who did the same with Ferencváros in the Hungarian league.

Also counted are the American players who were part of league champion squads and who added few or no minutes in their teams, such as goalkeeper Ethan Horvath (Bruges / Belgium League), defender Chris Richards (Bayern Munich / Bundesliga) and forward Tyler Boyd (Besiktas / Turkish Super League).

In terms of domestic cups, we must mention what was done by Sergiño Dest and Konrad de la Fuente, winning the Copa del Rey with Barcelona, or Giovanni Reyna with Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Pokal, plus Weston McKennie obtaining the Coppa Italia with Juventus ; Add to them midfielder Ben Lederman (Polish Cup with Rakow) and defender Mark McKenzie (Belgian Cup with Genk).

However, there is still a champion in Europe to be defined, this Saturday May 29 in the final of the UEFA Champions League, in the Portuguese city of Lisbon, where Steffen will seek his third title of the year; while Christian Pulisic's going for his first crown with Chelsea.
