The English midfielder just made the score 0-1 in the 15th minute, when Mount connected with a right-footed inside-footed shot that hit Courtois' left post, making the aggregate score 3-2 in Madrid's favor.

Who is Mason Mount?

Mason Tony Mount is an English soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Chelsea F. C. of the English Premier League and is also an international with the England national soccer team.

The 23-year-old, born in Portsmouth, the United Kingdom on January 10, 1999, has just gone viral around the world by giving Chelsea a chance to reach the UEFA Champions League final.

When did Mason Mount begin his soccer career?

Mount started his career in soccer very young as he signed in 2005 for Chelsea F. C. for their youth academy, where he excelled during the 2016-17 season when he played for the English club's U-18 and U-21 teams.

Mount seized his moment as he also played in the 2017 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, managing to come out on top with his national team and being named MVP of the championship, thus earning the label of a future star.

The player's talent managed to attract the attention of other clubs, so in the summer of 2017, he was loaned to S. B. V. Vitesse, a club where Mount made 39 appearances and scored 14 goals, thus showing that his talent was still developing.

Therefore, in the summer of 2018, he was loaned to Derby County F. C. for one season, and many people thought that the midfielder would not be able to excel at that club, but on the contrary, in a single season, Mount played in 44 matches, in which he scored 11 goals.

With so many goals and exploits accomplished, Chelsea reconsidered and decided to bring him back to take advantage of his talent, and Mount would be the solution to a problem the club was facing.

Mason Mount's return to Chelsea

Due to the sanction that prevented Chelsea F. C. from signing during the summer of 2019, the club decided to pull the team's youth players, including Mount, for the 2019-20 season.

The gamble on the homegrown player turned out much better than the Blues expected, as, since his arrival on the team, Mason Mount achieved a record that any world-class player would envy.

So far the player has accumulated a UEFA Champions League trophy, a European Super Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup.

So it is no wonder that this player is saving his club against Real Madrid with his first-half goal.
