Real Madrid beat Manchester City when it seemed all was lost. In the 73rd minute, Riyad Mahrez scored the first goal for the Citizens, which seemed to give them the pass to the final, as on aggregate they were 5-3, and only two Madrid goals would take the match to extra time.

However, Real Madrid, in this competition, will never give up. Following the goal, Ancelotti changed his midfield trident, taking off Kroos, Modric, and Casemiro and brought on Rodrygo, Asensio, and Camavinga.

Ancelotti won the battle in the end

At first, these changes seemed crazy, but they paid off in the final minutes. After City's goal, in the 89th minute, after an assist from Benzema, Rodrygo beat City goalkeeper Ederson to equalize the match.

To send the match into extra time, Ancelotti's team needed another goal and in the 92nd minute, after a cross from Carvajal, Brazilian Rodrygo came up again with a header that Ederson could not save.

Madness broke out at the Bernabeu and the Madrid fans erupted after the two goals that tied the match on aggregate and took everything to extra time.

In extra time, Madrid's third goal, which would take them to the final, came after central defender Ruben Dias committed a penalty on Benzema after only 5 minutes of extra time had elapsed. Karim Benzema himself was in charge of taking the shot and defining it correctly after throwing it to his right and managing to deceive Ederson.

Afterward, Madrid knew how to handle the rest of the game and Guardiola's team did not wake up. They were unable to create any dangerous moves after losing concentration after conceding two goals at the end of regular time.

The win cannot be understood without Courtois

One of the heroes of the match was Thibaut Courtois who made some great saves during the match. Before Real Madrid turned the game around, the Sky Blues came closer to scoring the second goal, however, on more than one occasion the Belgian goalkeeper saved. Both Foden and Grealish, the former Chelsea goalkeeper saved two great shots, which in the end were decisive for Madrid to advance to the final.
