The question has arisen among fans of the Italian league and international soccer as the fight for the title looks very close and the possibility of the Azzurri being crowned is much more real than ever.

And luckily for Mexican Serie A fans, Hirving "Chucky" Lozano could be part of history in a squad in which he has gradually made a place for himself, although he still needs to consolidate his position.

How long has it been since Napoli won Serie A?

It has been 32 years since Napoli last won Serie A, since the last time they achieved this feat was in the 1989-1990 season when the legendary Diego Armando Maradona played for that club.

Maradona's time with the Partenopei was something out of this world, as during that period the club won two Serie A titles in 1987 and 1990, a Coppa in 1987, and an Italian Supercoppa in 1990, as well as the UEFA Cup 1988-89.

However, since the legendary Argentine player left the club in 1992 to join Sevilla in Spain, Napoli has not been able to repeat the feat of winning the scudetto.

How did Napoli win their last Serie A?

Napoli and Maradona's achievement on that occasion was doubly epic as the club battled for the title on points against none other than Van Basten and Gullit's Milan.

To win the title, the light blue team beat Lazio at home in the last matchday to win the coveted title, a game in which Napoli defeated the Roman team 1-0 with a goal by defender Baroni in the 66th minute of the match.

And with Diego Armando Maradona playing a starring role, and in front of 77,243 spectators in their stadium, the small team from the south of Italy won the Italian championship for the second time in its history.

32 years without lifting the scudetto

And since that occasion, Napoli has not been able to win the scudetto again, although it seems that this time the club is very close to repeating the glory if it does not lose one more game, and if its rivals, Milan and Inter have a setback.

Can Chucky Lozano achieve glory and become part of European soccer history? Only time will tell, but the opportunity is already on the horizon.
