Since Carlo Ancelotti left SSC Napoli in 2019, Hirving “Chucky” Lozano hasn’t found the regularity he showed with both CF Pachuca and PSV Eindhoven, as it was the Italian coach the one who requested his addition to the Azzurri.

Despite Chucky's assist, Napoli surprisingly loses to Empoli and says goodbye to the Scudetto battle

In the two and a half years after Ancelotti’s departure, Napoli has had two coaches: Gennaro Gattuso and Luciano Spalletti. With Gattuso, Lozano had to wait patiently to prove that he had the talent to be part of the starting XI, something he managed to do at the end of the past season.

But with Spalletti, “Chucky” hasn’t had enough regularity, as injuries and coaching decisions have left him with only 17 apparitions in the Starting XI for the current season. Lozano has played 10 more games in Serie A coming out from the bench.

But Spalletti doesn’t fully trust the Mexican right-winger, which is why he already decided to part ways with him once the season is over, especially since he believes that he already found his replacement, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, 21-year-old winger from Rubin Kazan.

Lozano keeps showing his talent

Even if the 26-year-old right-winger knows of Napoli’s intentions of selling him once the current season is over, he is set to use the remainder four games of the 2021-22 season to prove them that letting him go is the wrong decision.

That’s what he already did in this weekend’s 3-2 defeat against Empoli that left them out of the race for the Escudetto, as he was directly involved in one of Napoli’s goals, assisting Dries Mertens to open the scoresheet.

His efforts weren’t enough to keep the Azzurri’s hope alive, but at least he sent Aurelio de Laurentiis a message to show him that it was worth it to sign him back in 2019 and that he still has a lot to give Napoli despite what Spalletti says.

Wolves want to sign him for next season

Lozano knows that remaining in Napoli could help him improve his shape prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but he doesn’t see with bad eyes arriving at Premier League, as is one of the best leagues in the world and the most competitive one, which is why Wolves are trying to acquire him, as they need to find a new companion for Raúl Jiménez.
