Cristiano Ronaldo is in the records books again The Portuguese star set the record for the all-time men's international scoring record when he scored his 110th and 111th goal for Portugal against the Republic of Ireland. Cristiano Ronaldo now holds the record outright, having surpassed Ali Daei's 109 goals for Iran.
The 36-year-old goal machine scored in the 89th and 96th minute of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to his latest record. Ronaldo had earlier missed a chance to set the record earlier in the match when he saw his penalty kick saved by the 19-year-old goalkeeper, Gavin Bazunu. The Portuguese captain was made to wait long for his crowning moment after he had equalled Ali Daei's record way back in the Euro2020 Group stage match against France where he scored another brace.
In a related development, the Manchester United forward was assigned the No 7 jersey at Manchester United and the Queen of England made an unusual request. Following his return to England and his recent international landmark, the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth, has requested that 80 replica shirts of the No 7 jersey of Cristiano Ronaldo be delivered to the Royal Court. Furthermore, the Queen also asked that the first shirt to be signed by Cristiano Ronaldo should be sent to the Royal Court also. This makes Cristiano Ronaldo the first-ever athlete, living or dead, to who the Queen of England has requested an autograph.
The 5-time Ballon d'Or winner can add the Queen's unusual request to his list of awards. Cristiano Ronaldo was also presented with a plaque by the Guinness Book of Records for owning the record for the all-time men's international scoring record. The former Juventus player would hope to continue banging in the goals as he starts a second stint at Old Trafford.
