A poll conducted by ESPN revealed who is the best player of all time of the Mexican National Team for the current public and generated great controversy.

It is very difficult to say who the best player in any country is. Let's think that in Argentina we have to compare Messi with Maradona, in Brazil Pele with Garrincha and in Mexico Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Hugo Sanchez and Rafael Marquez were nominated. They are three great Mexican players but with very different characteristics.

ESPN decided to test its public and published a poll to see who the best player in each country was. As we already mentioned in Mexico, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Hugo Sanchez and Rafael Marquez were disputed. Although the second and third places were even, the winner took the first place with 62% of the votes.

The three players were of different characteristics. Although Hugo Sanchez was not a great star of the Mexican team, what he did in Spain made more than half of the people vote for him. In addition to what was done in Spain, Sanchez was champion of the MX League with Pumas at only 18 years of age. After Sanchez the second place went to Cuauhtemoc Blanco.

It is surprising to see Rafael Marquez on the list as most of the nominated players were forwards or midfielders. Marquez was one of the few defenders who were nominated for the best player in his country. Although this is very subjective, the vast majority of voters have already elected and the best player in the history of Mexico is Hugo Sanchez.
