Ronald Koeman took charge of Barcelona at the beginning of the 2020/21 season after the former Real Betis manager, Quique Setien was rightfully sacked after leading Barcelona to an embarrassing 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.

Koeman left the Netherlands national team job to take up the Barcelona job, maybe he should not have taken the job considering the crisis at the club and Lionel Messi's willingness to leave then, but who turns down the Barcelona job considering he is a legend of the club?

It was a rollercoaster ride for Koeman at Barcelona but this season without Lionel Messi was always going to be difficult. Even Koeman admitted last season that Messi was the difference on and off the pitch.

Ronald Koeman oversaw 67 games in charge of Barcelona, he won 40, drew 11 and lost 16, maybe fair enough for another club but for Barcelona not good enough. He also never won a Clasico, losing all three he played, a record that stood for 85years.
