After Ben Olsen decided to part ways with the DC United Jim Curtin advanced to second active tenure's coach in the whole MLS. The Oreland's native is acting as Philly's manager since 2014, and is just besides Sporting Kansas City's Peter Vermes. Olsen, who is also a Pennsylvania native, got his job as United's coach in 2010.

Curtin is just two years younger than Ben Olsen. Jim told that, back in the Nineties, he used to look up to Olsen when the back-the midfielder was FC Delco's star. FC Delco is a youth high-standard academy outside Philadelphia, where Curtin too was sent to developed his skills before enrolling in Vilanova Wildcats.

Since that old days, Curtin and Olsen have been close friends. They have also did their coaches's pro license together, and even thought about working together as a head coach-assist coach duo. But Olsen's ties to DC United were too strong and just an year after the playmaker's retirement he was offered the job as head coach of the Whashington's team.

Jim Curtin believes that Olsen deserves a statue outside Audi Field. He has his reasons: Olsen has been directly envolved in 22 of the 25 seasons of DC's existence. Curtin also praises Olsen's virtues as a person and believes that this particular virtue has helped him boosted the best out of his players during the last ten years.
