After two years from leaving Liga MX, Matías Almeyda may be returning. The Argentinian head coach aged 46 is set to join Rayados de Monterrey, according to what rumors coming from Mexico say. The problem is that he has a contract with MLS side San Jose Earthquakes, remaining until December 2022.

It was said that Almeyda thinks that a move to Monterrey could be positive in his career, after not founding the competitive level he was expecting for at the MLS. For such a thing to happen, Rayados have two options: waiting until his contract expires or spending a fortune on him.

This second chance is due to the release clause that the trainer has to leave San Jose Earthquakes. It was known that the same rises to $4 million. That is the fortune that Monterrey must pay to the MLS team if they want to take Pelado, as he is known, right now.

Almeyda has left very good memories on Liga MX, after his time at Chivas where he gained multiple titles and helped a team that was going through a bad moment to recover. Previously he managed Banfield and River Plate former side. If he moves, it would be the fifth team in his managerial career.
