Xavi Hernandez will join the league of former players to return to manage their former clubs if he takes over the reins at FC Barcelona in coming days. Xavi was long touted as Barcelona manager but turned it down a year ago.
Xavi was set to take over at the club when Ernesto Valverde was sacked last year but was unwilling to take a mid season job and Barcelona opted for Quique Setien who was fired months later instead. Ronald Koeman took over at the beginning of last season and has also been sacked.
It has now become inevitable for Xavi to return home but Barcelona first have to clear him of his contract at Al Sadd and while they do that Xavi hsd hinted the club of the four players he would be willing to have to build his squad on.
First on the list is Paul Pogba who would be out of contract with Manchester United at the end of the season. Erling Haaland who would cost £68m, Jules Koundé from Sevilla for £55m and RB Leipzig Dani Olmo who is a La Masia graduate for £45m.
