After the premature elimination against PSG in the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona only has two titles to fight for: the Spanish League and the Copa del Rey, but the new management would terminate Koeman's contract at the end of the season for several other reasons.

With twelve rounds to go, Barcelona is six points behind leader Atlético Madrid and even if they still have to play against the 'Colchoneros' the situation looks complicated in what regards their aspirations to fight for the league title. On the other hand, the 'Culés' are to dispute the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao but winning it wouldn't be enough to keep Koeman on the bench.

It is rumoured that Joan Laporta's preferences are far from the Dutch coach and that he would immediately seek for another manager as soon as the current season ends. Besides this, it is well known Koeman's relationship with team leading star and captain Lionel Messi has not been the best since the first day the Dutchman arrived in the club.

With only two major titles to fight for and considering the premature elimination of the Champions League -where Barcelona lost 4-1 at home showing a pale performance- the new elected president could terminate Koeman's contract and it is reported he may try to tempt old glory Josep Guardiola to come back to his home club.

Ronald Koeman's numbers so far:

Since the beggining of the current season, Barcelona has disputed 41 games counting La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup and Champions League. 26 of them have ended with victory, 7 in a draw and eight have been defeats. A total of 90 goals were scored while 48 were received, making an average of +48. As expected, Lionel Messi leads the team's scoring table with 25 goals.
